Gallery Weekend Toronto

For four days, the city's contemporary art galleries open their doors to the general public and host a variety of free activities!

It's a unique opportunity for the public to discover numerous exhibitions, and to meet and exchange with gallery owners, artists and other players in the art world.

The Montreal and Toronto Gallery Weekends were born of a desire to revitalize the visual arts sector after the pandemic, to remind the public that it's always possible to visit art galleries for free! Over the years, Gallery Weekend has evolved into an annual event that celebrates September's cultural effervescence.

Free special programming

Participating galleries present special activities throughout the weekend, including vernissages, panel discussions, guided tours, poetry or tarot readings, creative workshops with artists and more.

Explore different routes

Galleries are grouped together by neighborhood to create itineraries, allowing the public to explore the city while discovering exceptional exhibitions, artists and activities.

Printed map

A map is printed every year, presenting the routes and pinpointing participating galleries on the Montreal map! This map is distributed throughout the city in galleries and tourist information centers.

Gallery Weekend is an international event presented in the world's major cities: Berlin, Paris, London, Brussels, Chicago, Warsaw, Beijing, Budapest, Mexico City, Milan, Barcelona, Madrid, Santiago, and many more. The Contemporary Art Galleries Association is taking part in this international trend for the fourth year, organizing editions in both Montreal and Toronto.
